Interactive BI Solutions for automating Payment analyses and reporting

Customer Profile

Customer is in ground transportation business. Customer is one of the biggest Transportation Company, which offers freight movement and management services throughout United States and Europe.

Objective

The goal of this project was to integrate and automate the payment analysis and Reporting functionalities, so that their carriers can have access to consistent, accurate, high value data online via web access. The goal was to integrate the corporate data in the data warehouse and then develop the advanced Payment Reporting systems by using the latest technologies available in the industry.

Description

The task involved gathering the existing Sales reports, new requirements and then design various catalogs to suit the individual clients requirements. The required Datamarts and Star schemas were implemented using the Ralph Kimball's Dimensional modelling Techniques methodologies. Some detail and aggregate datamarts were designed and developed during the course of this project. The datamart implementation was done using Informatica. The security solutions were implemented using the COGNOS Access Manager. The data filter was designed and developed using Oracle fine-grain access. The project involved proof of concept, server architectures, designing datamarts, implementing them, providing BI/OLAP reporting solutions and finally deploying them on the web using IWR, PPES and COGNOS Upfront.

Duration and Effort

A team of four persons was involved. Two persons exclusively worked on setting up the infrastructure and the environment. Two persons worked on the report development and the implementation. The entire project was completed in twenty weeks.
