PeopleSoft Inventory and Purchasing Implementation
Customer Profile
Customer is a global pharmaceutical company (Fortune 500), which has a centralized warehouse to cater to the test & research equipment needs of the labs in their Research Division.
Objective
The objective was to migrate from the existing system to PeopleSoft Inventory and Purchasing system, with a central warehouse and a purchasing department that caters to all the testing supply and equipment needs of more than ten laboratories in this division.
Description
Some of the migration activities had already been completed before this project was started. This phase involved business analysis of the expansion plan, setup of additional warehouses and transfer stock from the central warehouse to these newly formed storage areas. Also, on reconciliation of the stock (based on setup completed earlier) a variance of $450,000 between the corporate accounts and warehouse accounts was identified and eliminated.
Integrating the inventory and purchasing modules helped complete the purchasing module implementation. Automatic Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Order generations were setup during this stage of the project. Power users and other users were trained in both modules with company specific documentation and classroom training. A significant reduction in problems and manual intervention was observed with associated financial benefits.
Duration and Effort
Two persons (one lead and one trainee technical developer) worked and completed the entire project phase in fifteen weeks.
Technology Utilized
PeopleSoft Inventory and Purchasing (Version 7.0), Windows NT 4.0.
